In this episode of 'Beyond the Clinic,' host Liz Cox and a varied panel of veterinary nurses discuss the significant evolution of their profession over the years. Marking the 60th anniversary of the British Veterinary Nursing Association, the conversation covers the diverse opportunities now available to Registered Veterinary Nurses and how these roles have expanded beyond traditional responsibilities. The guests share personal experiences, highlighting shifts towards greater autonomy and collaboration with veterinary surgeons.

Emily Murray: RVN
Emily is an RVN with experience in both first opinion and referral settings. She is currently working as the Head of Vet Nurse Development for IVC Evidensia and is committed to supporting newly qualified and general practice veterinary nurses.
Rachel Marshall: RVN
Racheal has worked in general practice, in OOH and as a Lecturer in Veterinary Nursing & Animal Management. She is now Head of Clinical Nursing at Vets Now responsible for the clinical and professional standards of their veterinary nurses.
Stacey Galliford: Head RVN
Stacey is Head Nurse at Highfield Vets and holds an ISFM Certificate in Feline Nursing. She is part of the team of VN Supports at IVCE and is passionate about supporting RVN and SVN in there roles.
Becky Pritchard: Deputy Head RVN
Becky studied Animal Health and Welfare at University at Harper Adams then worked in numerous roles as a groom, assistant yard supervisor, instructor and lecturer. She later trained on the job to become an RVN at Fyrnwy Equine Hospital where she now works as Deputy Head Nurse.

Liz is the Group Veterinary Nursing Advisor, a critical part of the delivery of a modern veterinary service and the development of our professional nursing team and complementary care providers such as our teams providing physio and hydrotherapy. Liz is a founding member of the IVC Evidensia Nurse Committee, has presented at major Veterinary Congresses and holds senior office on the RCVS Nurse Council. She has a passion for Nurse Development and training and has worked in a full range of practices from single-site to hospital practices and as a locum for Bristol Veterinary School.
